The Dissertation Orientation credits are distributed over four semesters, and in cases of
completion of the master's degree in less time, the student is obliged to supplement the
number of credits with Scientific Production Activity.
Mandatory Disciplines are understood as the set of disciplines of common interest to the
different lines of research. These must be attended by all students of the master's degree.

The Mandatory Disciplines by Line of Research contemplate the specific interests of each line of
research, being for these proposals and should be taken by all students in the line and can
be elective for students in other lines.

Elective courses are made up of a set of subjects complementary to the student's education
related to his / her line of research. At the discretion of the Board, it is possible to
comply with at most one discipline in another Stricto Senso graduate course (recommended by
CAPES), whose credits may be counted as an elective course. For these cases, the student
must submit to the Collegiate Course for evaluation, the menu, the program of the discipline
and the acceptance of the advisor. When there is an academic and scientific cooperation
agreement, signed between the Program and another institution in the country or abroad, the
limit set in this article may be changed at the discretion of the Board. Special Topics I,
II, III and IV will be part of the curricular structure. Such disciplines will be made
available according to the interests of the faculty and students of the program and will
have their contents made more flexible. The Special Topics I and II subjects count four
credits each, while Special Topics III and IV add one credit each.

In Scientific Production Activities, students are allowed to submit an article in
co-authorship with their advisor to a qualified journal in the field of Psychology
throughout the master's degree. This activity, being approved by the Collegiate and advisor,
may be converted into a maximum of four (04) credits and may replace the credits of Elective
Courses.

The Dissertation Orientation comprises the activities carried out every six months by the
student together with his advisor in order to monitor and develop the production of his
dissertation research. The dissertation credits are distributed over four semesters, and in
cases of completion of the master's degree in less time, the student is not obliged to take
the four credits. The student must enroll in the first and second semesters of the Course.

The Research Group refers to the activities developed collectively by the student, his
advisor and the research group to which he belongs, to deepen theories and themes that
support the academic production of the group. They count 4 credits. The student must enroll
in the first and second semesters of the Course.

The Advanced Seminar (Qualification) encompasses the annual activities in which the student
will present the progress of his research work before a Judging Committee. The works will
be evaluated by a Judging Committee appointed by the Collegiate, obligatorily composed by
the student's supervisor and by two other teachers, one of which must be external to the
Course. The work for the Advanced Seminar should include the presentation of the progress
of the dissertation project and global research development indicators. It is up to the
Judging Committee to evaluate the theoretical and methodological basis of the work in
progress, approving or disapproving it, by opinion, expressed in a joint opinion, after the
student's argument. Participation in Advanced Seminars is a mandatory activity for students
in the first year of the master's degree. The student's approval in the Advanced Seminar
and the payment of the respective credit are prerequisites for the defense of the
dissertation.
The Teaching Internship activity is mandatory for students of the Program in accordance
with Resolution No. 50, of August 11, 2014 - CONSUNI / UFAL.

In this context, it is considered possible to fulfill all curricular activities within a
minimum acceptable period of 18 months and a maximum of 24 months. In duly justified cases,
with the consent of the supervisor and at the discretion of the collegiate, the master's
degree may be extended for up to 03 (three) months, and may exceptionally be extended for
another 03 (three) months.
